This is an online course run through the CITI Program.

Required: 

Human Subjects Protections (HSP) – basic course. There are different versions for this course for biomedical research and social/behavioral research, and either is accepted for RC+. Note: This course is required by the IRB before an investigator’s submission is accepted for review.

Complete and provide proof of completion date. (Approx. 4-6 hours).

When completed or if already completed, upload the certificate under this course for Human Subjects Research (HSP) Basic Course.

Methodological decisions have ethical implications. In this session, unique ethical considerations for different research designs including will be reviewed using case studies, focusing on randomized controlled trials, pragmatic clinical trials, and dissemination and implementation studies. Discussion will explore the space where methods and ethics meet.

The CCTS Master Class seminar series helps clinicians, research coordinators/specialists and other health research personnel develop a better understanding of conducting human subjects research at UIC. These immersive training workshops enable participants to implement best practices for human research subject protection, recruitment, study conduct, and data safety/security.

The Master Class on Financial Management: Pre-Award will be held over 2 days, about 2 hours per day, and will cover activities related to research funding during the funding procurement or contract negotiation period. Presentations from both study team members as well as university administrative offices will provide multiple perspectives on the processes involved with securing funding, working with funding agencies and sponsors, and developing budgets.

This seminar will focus on UIC-processes and registration is limited to those affiliated with the University of Illinois.
